From 1885, Woodville people have had a Brigade to come to their aid, the book lists the trials and hardships of the settlers, the Brigade and the problems faced in the early years. The Brigade was community based and is still the same today under the New Zealand Fire Service. During the 125 years, the Brigade has protected the town, 438 Brigade members have served with a total combined service of 2149 years, this averaging nearly five years per member.

The book is a definitive history of the Woodville Brigade, 140 pages and features chronological table, photos, facts, newspaper copy, notes from minutes, written text and reports, buildings and equipment from 1885 until today.

A book launch is to be held on 15th March and pre ordered books can be collected from this date. A production proof can be viewed at the Tararua i-SITE located at 42 Vogel St in Woodville.

Pre publication price of $50 (plus p&p) is only available until the print deadline date of 30th January 2010, then the regular price of $55 (plus p&p) will apply
