Athbey Farm air strip right here in Woodville hosts the New Years day fly in every year, and with New Zealand being on the international date line makes it the first aviation event in the world.
General aircraft, microlights, aerobatic, ex airforce and auto gyrocopters are noted with people coming from throughout New Zealand and as far away as Australia.
